An Unexpected Stop — Ústí nad Labem

Arrival & Meeting Point

On May 22, 2025, I traveled with Deutsche Bahn from Dresden Hauptbahnhof to Ústí nad Labem hlavní nádraží. The train departed at 15:10, arrived at 16:11, and the ticket cost €19.99. After getting off the train, I walked straight to Forum Ústí nad Labem, which was our meeting point and the starting place for the cable car.

Not in the Plan

Ústí nad Labem wasn’t on my itinerary. It’s not a city that’s widely known or popular with tourists, so I didn’t expect much. That’s exactly why the surprise felt even stronger.

Cable Car to the View

Inside the Forum shopping mall, we went up to the top floor, where the ticket counter and cable car entrance are located. The return ticket cost 45 CZK, and the ride was very short—less than 2 minutes. Fast, smooth, and over almost before it began. The cable car takes you up to Větruše Hill, about 370 meters above sea level.

From the Top

From above, the city looked completely different. The view opened to rolling hills and dramatic, beautiful landscapes, with the Elbe River flowing through the city below. I didn’t expect a city like this to look so striking from above. It was beautiful like a picture—almost unreal, yet completely real, right here on Earth.

A Castle on the Hill

At the top stands the Větruše Hotel & Restaurant. The building looks like a castle, with a tall spire and a bold yellow façade. It felt fantastic, almost surreal. The bright yellow structure contrasts perfectly with the lush green hills behind it.

Final Impression

This brief, unplanned stop completely changed my perspective. A short cable car ride revealed a side of Ústí nad Labem I never expected—dramatic views, a river cutting through the city, and a castle-like landmark above it all. Sometimes, the places you don’t plan for become the ones you remember the most.

Ústí nad Labem ไม่ได้อยู่ในแผนการเดินทางตั้งแต่แรก และก็ไม่ใช่เมืองที่นักท่องเที่ยวพูดถึงกันมาก ฉันแทบไม่ได้คาดหวังอะไรจากที่นี่ จนกระทั่งเพื่อนชวนขึ้นเคเบิลคาร์เพื่อไปดูวิวด้านบน

เคเบิลคาร์สู่จุดชมวิว

ภายในห้าง Forum เราขึ้นไปยัง ชั้นบนสุด ซึ่งเป็นที่ตั้งของจุดขายตั๋วและทางขึ้นเคเบิลคาร์ ตั๋วไป–กลับราคา 45 โครูนาเช็ก และการนั่งเคเบิลคาร์ใช้เวลา ไม่ถึง 2 นาที เร็ว สั้น แต่ลื่นไหลมาก เคเบิลคาร์จะพาขึ้นไปยัง เนินเขา Větruše ซึ่งสูงประมาณ 370 เมตรจากระดับน้ำทะเล

มุมมองจากด้านบน

เมื่อขึ้นมาถึงด้านบน เมืองทั้งเมืองดูเปลี่ยนไปอย่างสิ้นเชิง สิ่งที่เห็นตรงหน้าคือ แนวเขาและภูมิประเทศที่สวยงามและดรามาติกมาก ด้านล่างคือ Elbe River ที่ไหลผ่านตัวเมือง ทำให้ภาพรวมดูสงบและมีมิติ ฉันไม่อยากเชื่อว่าเมืองที่ไม่ค่อยมีชื่อในหมู่นักท่องเที่ยว จะดูสวยขนาดนี้จากมุมสูง มันสวยเหมือนภาพวาด — ดูเหมือนไม่จริง แต่กลับเป็นของจริงบนโลกใบนี้

ปราสาทบนเนินเขา

ด้านบนยังมี Větruše Hotel & Restaurant อาคารสีเหลืองสด รูปทรงเหมือน ปราสาท มีหอคอยยอดแหลม ดูโดดเด่นมาก ตัวอาคารสีเหลืองตัดกับ ฉากหลังของเนินเขาสีเขียว ได้อย่างสวยงามและน่าประทับใจ รู้สึกแฟนตาซีราวกับฉากในนิทาน

ความประทับใจสุดท้าย

การแวะเมืองนี้แบบไม่ได้ตั้งใจ กลับเปลี่ยนมุมมองของฉันไปทั้งหมด เพียงการนั่งเคเบิลคาร์สั้น ๆ ก็เผยให้เห็นความงามที่ซ่อนอยู่ของ Ústí nad Labem บางครั้ง…สถานที่ที่เราไม่ได้วางแผนไว้ กลับกลายเป็นความทรงจำที่สวยงามที่สุดของการเดินทาง
