Setting Off

I started my river journey on route L12 from **Dresden** to **Blasewitz**, departing at 09:30 and arriving at 10:10. The stop was quicker than I expected—I was in the restroom when we reached Blasewitz, and before I realized it, the boat was already moving again. I missed my chance to get off, so I stayed on board and continued all the way to Pillnitz. I had already bought a return ticket for €26, but to get back to Dresden I needed to purchase another ticket for route L61.

Back to Dresden

From Pillnitz pier, I took L61 back to Dresden, departing at 12:10 and arriving at 13:15, cruising downriver along the Elbe River. The L61 ticket cost €20.50, and it was absolutely worth it. Along the way, the boat passed the famous Loschwitz Bridge (Loschwitzer Brücke), also known as the Blue Wonder Bridge—light, blue, and elegant when seen from the water.

Cold Air, Quiet Deck

The temperature was around 13°C, and with the wind, it felt cold for me. I was surprised that almost no one stayed outside on deck—most passengers sat indoors. I stayed out anyway, wrapped up against the wind, enjoying the open air and the slow rhythm of the river.

The Steamboat Experience

The cruise I took was a steam-powered paddle boat (เรือกลจักรไอน้ำ). That alone made the journey feel special—classic, nostalgic, and unhurried. They served coffee on board (not free), but it was really good, and somehow tasted even better with the cold air and river views.

Final Feeling

What started as a small mistake turned into one of the most memorable experiences of my trip. Cold wind, warm coffee, a quiet river, and a slow steamboat drifting back into Dresden—sometimes the river chooses the route for you, and it turns out better than planned.
