An Unexpected 16-Minute Journey to Chong Samae San

Sometimes, the most beautiful places are closer than we think. On January 10, 2026, after spending the whole day at the Thai Navy’s Children’s Day event, I thought I would be heading straight home. It was a day that was both tiring and fun—huge crowds, aircraft, laughter, and that special kind of excitement you only get on Children’s Day. But my friend had a different plan. Out of nowhere, she drove us in another direction with a surprise. In just 16 minutes, everything around us slowly changed. City streets turned into open roads, a gentle sea breeze began to blow, and the coastline ahead felt like it had been waiting for us all along. I was genuinely surprised—Chong Samae San was far more beautiful than I ever expected, especially considering how close it was.

First Stop: Wihan Luang Pho Dam (Wat Luang Pho Dam)

Our first stop was Wihan Luang Pho Dam, which many people also call Wat Luang Pho Dam. From the moment we stepped inside, the atmosphere felt calm and sacred. As I entered the wihan, the first thing I saw was a large Buddha image standing peacefully and powerfully. Then, as I walked around to the side, I noticed three open windowsmade from pale blue wood, carved with delicate Thai patterns. Looking through those windows, the view beyond was unforgettable—trees, seaside homes, and a wide stretch of bright blue sea, so beautiful I could barely look away. Everything out there felt frozen in time—quiet, still, and beyond words. I truly want everyone to see it with their own eyes. I never expected the eastern coast of Thailand to be this stunning.

Walking Down to the Sea

After leaving the wihan, we slowly walked down toward the beach—and that was the moment Chong Samae San completely stole my heart. The scene in front of me looked like a painting. I had to stop and record a video immediately. This beach wasn’t made of soft sand. Instead, it was covered in white seashells of many sizes, packed tightly across the shore. It looked unusual and beautiful in its own way. There were rocks coated in green algae, gentle waves, cool sea air, and warm sunlight—everything felt perfectly balanced. Small and large shells lay scattered around like tiny gifts left behind by the sea. Farther out, fishing boats floated quietly, with their gear laid out neatly, reflecting a simple and peaceful coastal way of life. And when I looked even farther, I could see a white lighthouse on the horizon—silent, steady, and always watching over the sea. In that moment, there was no rush. No need to say much. We simply stood there—breathing it in, and letting the feeling sink deep.

A Small Lesson I Didn’t Expect

จุดแรก: วิหารหลวงพ่อดำ (วัดหลวงพ่อดำ)

จุดแวะแรกของเรา คือ วิหารหลวงพ่อดำ หรือที่หลายคนเรียกกันว่า วัดหลวงพ่อดำ ตั้งแต่ก้าวแรกที่เข้าไป บรรยากาศก็ให้ความรู้สึกสงบและศักดิ์สิทธิ์ทันที เมื่อก้าวเข้าไปในวิหาร สิ่งแรกที่เห็นคือ พระพุทธรูปองค์ใหญ่ ตั้งตระหง่านอย่างสงบนิ่งจากนั้นเมื่อเดินอ้อมไปด้านข้าง จะพบกับ หน้าต่างสามช่องเปิดโล่งอยู่ ทำด้วยไม้สีฟ้าอ่อน แกะสลักลายไทยอย่างประณีต เมื่อมองลอดผ่านหน้าต่างเหล่านั้นออกไป ภาพที่ปรากฏตรงหน้าคือ ต้นไม้ บ้านเรือนริมทะเล และท้องทะเลสีฟ้ากว้างไกลสวยงามจนแทบไม่อยากละสายตา ทุกอย่างตรงนั้นเหมือนถูกหยุดเวลาไว้ เงียบ สงบ และงดงามเกินบรรยาย อยากให้ทุกคนได้มาเห็นด้วยตาตัวเองจริง ๆ ฉันไม่เคยคิดมาก่อนเลยว่า… ทะเลภาคตะวันออกจะสวยขนาดนี้

เดินลงสู่ทะเล

หลังจากออกจากวิหาร เราเดินลงไปทางชายหาดช้า ๆ และนั่นแหละ…ช่วงเวลาที่ช่องแสมสาร ขโมยหัวใจ ฉันไปเลย ภาพตรงหน้าสวยเหมือนภาพวาด จนฉันต้องหยุดถ่ายวิดีโอทันที ชายหาดตรงนี้ไม่ได้เป็นทรายนุ่ม ๆ แต่ปกคลุมไปด้วย เปลือกหอยสีขาวหลากหลายขนาด เรียงแน่นไปทั่ว ดูแปลกตาและมีเสน่ห์ในแบบของมันเอง โขดหินที่มีตะไคร่น้ำสีเขียว คลื่นเบา ๆ ลมทะเลเย็น ๆ และแสงแดดอุ่น ๆ ทุกอย่างดูพอดีไปหมด เปลือกหอยเล็กใหญ่กระจายอยู่รอบตัว ราวกับของขวัญเล็ก ๆ ที่ทะเลทิ้งไว้ให้ ไกลออกไปมีเรือประมงลอยนิ่ง ๆ อุปกรณ์หาปลาวางเรียงเป็นระเบียบ สะท้อนวิถีชีวิตริมทะเลที่เรียบง่ายและสงบ และมองไปไกลอีกนิด จะเห็น ประภาคารสีขาว ตั้งอยู่บนขอบฟ้า ดูนิ่ง เงียบ และเฝ้ามองทะเลอยู่ตลอดเวลา ตอนนั้นไม่มีความรีบเร่ง ไม่จำเป็นต้องพูดอะไรเยอะ แค่ยืนอยู่ตรงนั้น…สูดลมหายใจ และเก็บความรู้สึกไว้ให้เต็ม

บทเรียนเล็ก ๆ ที่ได้แบบไม่ตั้งใจ

บ่ายวันนั้นทำให้ฉันนึกขึ้นได้ว่า ความสวยงามไม่ได้ประกาศตัวเสียงดังเสมอไป บางครั้งมันแค่นั่งรออย่างเงียบ ๆ อยู่ใกล้เรา—แค่ไม่กี่นาทีจากบ้าน—จนวันหนึ่งเราเผลอไปเจอโดยบังเอิญ และเมื่อเจอแล้ว…มันจะอยู่กับเราไปอีกนาน
